James Ilar "Jack" Jackson

February 12, 1934 — September 27, 2022

James Ilar "Jack" Jackson, (88), husband of Linda Faulkner Jackson, died peacefully at Candler Hospital on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

Jack was born on February 12, 1934 in Nashville, TN to the late Johnnie Lee and the late Mildred (Chapman) Jackson

He was a retired electronics and communications technician who worked the entire southeast to keep the music playing, whether it be as the chief engineer for TV and radio stations, or to repair church and school organs and electric pianos. He was founder of Jackson Electronics. His hobbies included photography, genealogy, weather phenomenon, wood working, and taking apart anything electrical to learn how it worked. His interest in the computer age was beyond that of others his age. He welcomed discarded computers to rebuild or restore. He loved learning new things, and was well respected for his self taught expertise in these hobbies. He was a great story-teller, historian, and joke teller. His love of nature and Savannah was evident in his photography, and would even gift his photography talent to friends who married in the hostess city we call home. For many years he worked in his darkroom perfecting everything from moss to sunsets. He had a difficult time passing Krispy Kreme's hot doughnut sign without stopping, and usually lured in an accomplice to support him buying more than one dozen.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Johnnie Jackson, Peggy Hollingsworth and Gene Jackson, his daughter Julie Jackson Hall, and granddaughter Heather Jackson..

In addition to his wife of 47 years, he is survived by his children, Deborah (Jeffrey) Reck, Danny Jackson, Steven Jackson, Sandra (Frank) Martinez, and Marella (Bob) Poticny; 25 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.
