James Fredrick “Freddie” Clark, 67 of Savannah, GA died July 14, 2024. Born on August 13, 1956 in Fort Stewart, GA, he was the son of the late Dolores Remion Clark and the late William Warren Clark. He was a 1974 graduate of Windsor Forest High School. He was a master electrician and worked for 40 years in the industry at Tyco Electric, Quality Control, and Fugi Oil until retiring in 2015. Because he was so skilled in electrical work and general handyman tasks, he always had a long list of honey-do projects from family and friends but he wouldn’t have it any other way. Whenever you saw Freddie, you could guarantee he would ask during the conversation if he could help you with anything. His project list kept him busy but his favorite hobbies included anything outdoors such as boating, fishing, hunting, and all things history related. These hobbies led to his all-time favorite pastime of metal detecting and collecting treasures of all kinds. Freddie couldn’t pass by an open field without pulling over and taking out his metal detector and shovel to go for a walk to see what he might find. His family often joked that a “No Trespassing Sign” never existed on any of his excursions. Freddie’s biggest discovery was a civil war era cannon at Causton Bluff in Savannah, GA in 1981 which he donated to the State of Georgia.
Freddie loved his family more than anything and made sure to show it all the time. Whether he was dropping by to see his mother each afternoon, calling his children daily to chat about today’s headlines, or making sure the boat was season ready once spring hit so that his wife, Joyce, could enjoy her favorite pastime of being on the water the first day of the year that temperatures exceeded 75 degrees. Freddie’s smile will be missed by all who knew him as well as hearing him greet you with his own unique catch phrase, Yada Yada!
Freddie leaves behind so many friends and family who will miss him daily including his most beloved family member of all, his wife of 47 years, Joyce Brock Clark of Savannah, GA plus their four children Kristina “Kristy” Clark McLaughlin (John McLaughlin) of Columbus, GA, Kevin Michael Clark (Dorie Smith Clark) of Savannah, GA , Kelly Michelle Clark of Savannah, GA, Kyle Matthew Clark (Alexis Lee Clark) of Savannah, GA; seven grandchildren (with one more arriving October 2024), Jonathan McLaughlin, Connor McLaughlin, Liam McLaughlin, Brock Clark, Johnny-James Clark, Maela Clark, Finn Clark, and Saylor James Clark (arriving soon); siblings Rose Mascunana (the late George Mascunana), Gloria Heneghen (Skip Heneghen), Betty Dorondo (the late John Dorondo), and Michael Clark; as well as many close in-laws; nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, and cousins; and longtime friends. Freddie also leaves behind many adult children whom, although he may not have legally been their parent, he had a hand in raising them over the years due their relationships with his own kids and them spending countless nights and weekends at his house. He loved these “adopted” children as his own and they had just as much of an impact on him as he did on them.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 12:00pm – 1:00pm with funeral services to follow at 1:00pm. The visitation and service will both be at Baker McCullough Funeral Home at 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406. The family invites everyone to join them at Red Gate Farms – The Grainery for a Celebration of Life at 3:00pm. It is located at 136 Red Gate Farms Trail Savannah, GA 31405.
Freddie was never a fan of dressing up so we ask everyone to come in their best beach casual attire.
Also, in lieu of flowers, the family appreciates plants that they can be kept long term and/or plant outside or you can make a memorial donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Freddie’s honor.
