Jacquelin (Jacky) Scurry Walker, 94, of Savannah, GA entered eternal rest on Monday, November 22, 2021, at home with her family.
Born in Savannah in 1927, she was the daughter of the late Douglas DeRenne Scurry and Helen Cobb Scurry.
Preceded in death by her husband, Christopher Jenkins Walker, Jr; sisters, Betty Scurry Widmer and Dorothy DeRenne Scurry; father and mother-in-law, Christopher Jenkins Walker, Sr and Margaret Wilson Walker.
She is survived by daughters, Margaret Walker Williams of Durham, NC and Dorothy Walker (James) Parker of Savannah, GA; son, Christopher Jenkins (Joni) Walker, III of Statesboro, GA; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
Jacky graduated from Winyah High School in Georgetown, SC in 1944. Jacky and Chris were married in Georgetown, SC in 1949. Jacky was a Navy wife and mother of 3. They lived in quite a few different places during Chris’s Navy career. When he retired, she told him, “I followed you everywhere, now it is time for you to follow me to Savannah!”
Her life was dedicated to her family and service. Jacky was a faithful member of St Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. She held many leadership roles and volunteered at church and in the community. She was a Girl and Boy Scout leader, a tutor for Savannah Coalition for Literacy, a member of the Geechee Quilting Guild, and a leader in Al-anon just to name a few. She was very passionate about everything she did.
Everyone who met Jacky loved her instantly. She was a selfless, loving, caring, compassionate, gentle lady and a role model to all. She was a very gifted and talented lady. She loved doing crafts of all kinds. Her favorite of all was quilting. She had a love for butterflies. She had butterflies on her clothes, framed pictures, and on everything else you can imagine. Most of all, she loved her family and her church family.
Mom/Grandma/Jacky, we miss you so very much!
Visitation will be at 1:00 pm and Funeral Service at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 29, 2022, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 W 31st Street, Savannah, Ga.
