Jackson Meyer

d. September 24, 2018

On Saturday, September 22, 2018, My Dad received his Angel Wings, He passed away very unexpectedly at his residence. Although we are very brokenhearted because we lost such a great man, we are so very thankful that he lived 90 years and remained independent. His main wish is that he would never have to go to a Nursing Home. It was my honor, along with Joshua and Olivia  to be able to see him daily and help take care of his needs.   He was a kind man and always put others first and loved animals, especially his dog and companion Sugar. He adored his little sidekick, his great granddaughter, Olivia . They had a connection that was very special. She softened his heart and he taught her how to love and be kind to the elderly. He enjoyed going out to eat and was a regular at Sunny Side Up on the weekends. Until recently he enjoyed spending many mornings at the mall with his group of friends drinking coffee and just enjoying each others friendship!  He was a member of the Elks Club and a former member of the Exchange Club of Savannah. Throughout his incredible life He was an extra in several movies that were filmed in Savannah including 1969 and Love Crimes .

Daddy was born in Ottawa, Illinois on August 8, 1928.  At a young age he left to pursue a career as a Merchant Marine and ended up in Savannah where he met my Mom, Christine. He worked his way up to being a Master Electrician and Chief Engineer in which He traveled the world for 47 years including war times before retiring from Waterman Steamship Company.
He was honorably discharged from The United States Coast Guard. He was a very smart man and always willing to help anyone. There is nothing that he couldn't do if he set his mind to it .  He will truly be missed by friends, loved ones and neighbors.

He was predeceased by his wife Christine , his son Eddie , his sister Patricia Corcoran and his parents Elmer and Hilda Meyer.
Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Meyer Seeba,  A son, Rick Ogletree (Brenda).  Four grandchildren, Joshua Mears, Melanie Myers (Brian), Karen Gaddy (Hugh)  and Brian Ogletree.

He has five great grandaughters, Olivia Mears, Christina Hunger, Allison Hunger, Anna Grace Hunger, and  Emaline Gaddy. He is also survived by his sister Sharon Damyen and his Brother , Ron Flori (Lois) and His Brother in law , Wayne Corcoran
And several nieces and nephews all of Ottawa.

The visitation will be held at Baker McCullough Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral Service will be Thursday,  September 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Baker McCullough Funeral Home (Hubert C Baker Chapel).
