Jackie Lawrence Cook, 73, of Savannah passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta.
A native of Savannah, he was the son of the late Angus Wallace Cook and Beatrice Hendrix Cook. Jack was a graduate of Herschel V. Jenkins High School.
Following graduation Jack joined the US Air Force, were he proudly served our Country for 7 years. While stationed in Japan, he met and married the love of his life Seiko; after an honorable discharged Jack enlisted in US Air Force Reserve where he retired after 22 years of service. During the 1980's Jack and his wife Seiko opened up one of the first Video rental stores in Savannah called "Video World".
Jack also was employed by the FAA and worked as a Radar Maintenance Technician with Air Traffic Control at Los Angeles International Airport and Miami Homestead General Aviation Airport.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Seiko Osame Cook; two sisters, Mary Frances Adams and Thelma Cook Walden.
Survivors include his son, Seimitsu "Sam" Cook, Sr. (Cynthia Cook); three grandchildren, Seimitsu "Sammy" Cook, Jr. (Amber Cook), Christina Seiko Cook and Toni B. Cook; his brother, Ralph T. Cook (Debby Cook); sisters, Jennie Lee Baxter, Linda D. Willis and Bonnie B. Spivey Sommers (Bryan Sommers); 19 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Funeral Home with a Service to Celebrate Jack's Life beginning at 7:00 p.m.
