Jack M. Willis, Jr., age 76, of Savannah passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
Mr. Willis was born on June 28, 1947 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Jack Malcolm Willis, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Marie Frank Willis. Jack served in the Navy and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He also served in Desert Storm with Coast Guard. He had 30 years service with the military. Jack was a Savannah Police officer for 32 years. In those 32 years, he worked in the traffic division and was a Fatality Investigator. Then he went to work for the Sheriff’s Department, working in the Juvenile Court, for 21 years. Jack was a FOP president for 20 years. Jack was a Commandant in the Marine Corp for 2 years. He loved his wife for 52 years and had two beautiful daughters and one granddaughter. He loved camping, golf, and Buffalo Bills football. Jack had a deep love for his work, family, and animals.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Willis was preceded by his twin brother, James Willis.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Willis; daughters and son-in-law, Jennifer LaBelle ( Michael) and Christie Willis; granddaughter, Abigail LaBelle; six siblings, Jo Gross ( the late Melvin), Jeanne Carley ( Don), Jan Galles ( Charlie), Jay Willis (Kitty), Judy Davis-Willis, and Jerry Willis ( Faythe); 25 nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; as well as many cousins.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church (11500 Middleground Rd Savannah, GA 31419).
Interment will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville (819 US-301, Glennville, GA 30427).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, February 6, 2024 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406).
