Jack Edsel Hamilton passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.
Jack was a native of Conway, SC and was the son of the late Rassie and Dottie Hamilton, and is preceded in death by his sister, Billie Faye Hamilton Wilson, and his son-in-law Jim Jennings.
He was a life-long Clemson Tiger where he graduated with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. While at Clemson, he served on the Pershing Rifles team and ROTC. He loved to return to Clemson as often as possible to root on his Tigers.
After graduation, Jack served in the US Army. In 1968, he moved to Savannah to work for the Savannah Sugar Refinery. He retired as the Plant Superintendent in 1991.
Jack was an active member of Calvary Baptist Temple in Savannah, Ga, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He was also a member of The Gideon International.
Jack loved music, movies, golf, and family vacations to Myrtle Beach. He and Marcia were also devoted fans of Calvary athletics and never missed a game of their children and grandchildren. When he was younger, he had a band known as Poplar Hot Shots and performed weekly radio shows.
Jack was married to the love of his life, Marcia Lundy Hamilton for 63 years. He is survived by his son, Jackie Hamilton (Kelli); a daughter Lisa Hamilton Jennings; grandchildren Ryan Jennings (Maggie), Landon Jennings, Jordan Jennings, Sarah Hamilton Williams (Grayson), Jake Hamilton, sister-in-law Norma Lundy Ashburn, and several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Temple on Friday, January 10, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m.
