J.C. Saxon, age 83, of Savannah passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones at home.
J.C. was born on December 1, 1940 in Millen, Georgia to the late Cardell and Agnes Saxon. He finished school in Savannah, Georgia and was working as a mechanic when he met his wife, Frances. J.C. married Frances on September 21, 1973 at Isle of Hope Methodist Church. J.C. served as the lead mechanic at Signature Flight Support until he retired. Each day after work he would jog five miles around Isle of Hope. He was talented with anything he put his hands on, especially that banjo we all loved to hear him play! He had passion for racing that involved motorcycles and go karts and even built his own motors called Banjo Power! He was a joy to be around and people were drawn to his infectious laughter. He loved his wife, Frances and especially his sons and daughters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Paula; son, Jason; and his two brothers, G.M. and Ray Saxon.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; his children, Fred Saxon, Heather Harris (Bobby), April Smith (Donald), Chris(Jessica) Saxon; grandchildren, Austin, John, Wesley, Will, Jason, Leo, Gloria and Jessica; and great grandchildren, Isabel, William, and Stella.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406).
Due to the weather conditions, interment will take place in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. (315 Greenwich Road Savannah, GA 31406).
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
