J. Craig Butler, born August 9, 1944 in Savannah, GA died December 15, 2024 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a short illness. He attended Benedictine Military School and graduated from Savannah High School, class of 1962. He was of the Catholic faith. Craig retired from Sears, Roebuck & Co. after 40 years of employment. In his early retirement he enjoyed traveling across the US on his Harley Davidson, to Nava Scotia to research the Butler family history and rides with the Harley group. Craig was an auto enthusiast having restored several cars including the 1965 Volkswagen driven by many members of the family and wrecked by a few. His greatest joy was his family.
Craig is survived by his son Michael Butler, wife Whitney and their sons, Christopher & James; daughter Jennifer Amato, husband Doug and their daughter, Leah; sister Marcia Thompson, husband Paul and their son, Davis. He cherished being "Boppa" to his grands, watching them grow, attending their sporting events, grandparents programs and recitals. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him, family and friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, December 19, 2024 at the Catholic Cemetery, Holy Cross Section.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Benedictine Military School, 6502 Seawright Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
