Howard Joseph Hanks

Retired US Army Sergeant First Class Howard Joseph Hanks, Jr. 78, of Savannah, Georgia passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.A native of Lake Arthur, Louisiana, Howard was the son of the late Howard Joseph Hanks and the late Zula Kibodeaux Hanks. At the age of 18, Howard joined the United States Army and became a career Serviceman. He served during the Vietnam War and also was stationed in Germany. While in Germany he met his wife, Edeltraut Brunhilde Hoffmann Hanks. After his retirements from the United States Army he went to work for Paper Chemical Supply Company where he has worked for 16 ½ years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 45 years; and a son, Andrew Robert Hanks.
Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, David Howard Hanks (Sherry), Christopher John Hanks; a grandson, Horace Samuel Hanks.
Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018 at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, Georgia.
