Savannah

Horace Hampton Warren "Hamp", a devoted father, beloved grandfather, and steadfast friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5th, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on Wednesday, April 10th, 1940, in the humble town of Hardeeville, South Carolina, Horace spent his early years thriving amidst the warmth and simplicity of a close-knit community. He carried that nurturing spirit with him to Savannah, Georgia, where he established his life and forged countless cherished connections.

A skilled mechanic by trade, Horace dedicated several decades of his life working for The Savannah Machine & Foundry Company. His colleagues remember him as a reliable and diligent figure, always ready with a clever solution and a warm smile. Beyond his professional life, Horace possessed a zest for entrepreneurial ventures, running a charming produce stand in South Newport for many years with his son Wade. It was here that his love for the land and his community coalesced, allowing him to connect with people from all walks of life.

Hamp was a man of varied passions; his love for country music was rivaled only by his excitement for gambling on the casino boat. Both pastimes provided him with joy, stories to share, and countless hours of companionship with friends and family.

Hamp's cherished legacy continues through his children: Nolan Thompson, Violet Griffin, Bonnie Warren, Wade Warren, Connie Warren, and Horace Warren, Jr. His pride and joy extended to his five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each a testament to the enduring love and strength that marked his life.

He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Wimpy, Irene Burke, Linda Bottoms, and Claude Warren, who each shared in his life's journey, alongside numerous nieces, nephews, and adoring extended family.

Hamp was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorene Drake Warren, and his parents, Horace Duncan Warren and Ella Sabenia Higginbotham Warren, who undoubtedly welcomed him home with open arms.

Arrangements for his farewell are being handled by Baker McCullough Funeral Home-Garden City Chapel, where friends and family will gather to celebrate a life full of laughter, love, and unwavering commitment to those he held dear.

Horace Hampton Warren "Hamp" will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to family, his industrious nature, and the warmth he imparted upon everyone he met. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will remain forever etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
