Herman Moss Powers, 97, of Savannah, died, Sunday December 10, 2017 at Memorial Hospital.
He was born on June 7, 1920, in Northwest, Virginia, a son of the late Jennings Bryan and Roberta Gilliam Sanderline Powers.
Herman served his country in the United States Army Air Corps, enlisting at age 20 in 1940. He went on to serve during World War II and Korea, retiring as Chief Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. He also worked for Hunter and Ft. Stewart bases.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ida Carol Skidmore Powers; brother, Rodney Blake Powers (Jean) and a sister, Thelma L. Powers Mays (Roy).
He is survived by his daughter, Paula P. Skaar (Alfred); son, Dennis R. Powers; granddaughters, Laura S. Stone (Nick) and Jennifer S. McKuhen (Paul,III); great-grandchildren, Noah and Carson Stone of Savannah, GA and Parker and Ryder McKuhen of Guyton, GA;
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8pm, Tuesday at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah.
A graveside service will be held at noon, Wednesday, December 13, at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort, SC.
