Helen Mae Hockenschneider Crockett, 85, of Savannah, GA, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 31, 2021 at her daughter Cindy’s home in Guyton, GA.
Helen was the daughter of Henry and Anne Hockenschneider, born on September 28, 1935, in Humphrey, Nebraska. Her house was always open and welcoming to friends and the friends of her children. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, and arts and crafts. After the death of her husband in 1968, she moved to Savannah where she devoted her life to raising her five children: James B. (Jim B) Crockett (Priscilla), Travis (Tod) Crockett (Carol), David Crockett, Teresa (Tracy) Miles (Derrick), and Cindy Drown (Charlie).
She is preceded in death by her husband James Brannan Crockett II; her sister, MaryAnn Graddick; and 3 brother in laws, Steward Crockett, Ben Crockett, and Mike Crockett.
She is remembered fondly by her 5 children; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Betty Dunsworth, and Jeanie Dykes; 3 sisters in-laws, Betty Jean Houze, Brenda Conley, and Alice Veal; and a brother in-law Ronnie Crockett.
Family will be receiving friends from 5pm to 7pm Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Baker McCullough Funeral Garden City Chapel, 2794 West US Highway 80 Garden City, GA 31408.
