Hazel Taylor Minus, 97, surrounded by her loving family, passed away, Friday September 16, 2016after a short illness at Buckingham South, Savannah GA under the care of Hospice Savannah. Hazel, the daughter of the late Cleveland and Julia Leaphart Taylor, was born November 9, 1918 in Gilbert, SC. and graduated from Gilbert High School and Savannah Vocational School. She worked for several Savannah companies before retiring as Comptroller of Electrical Machinery Company. She was a Red Cross volunteer and an active member for many of her 71 years at the Pt. Wentworth United Methodist Church. Hazel was known for her homemade sweet pickles, party mix and handmade quilts. After the death of her husband, Hazel enjoyed reading, bingo and rummy. She was truly an inspiration for her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Survivors include daughters Brenda Minus White (David) of Huntsville, AL and Harriet Minus Johnson of Savannah; grandchildren Kelly White Wahl (Randy) of Southlake, TX, Kevin White of Windsor, CT, Diane Johnson Cook (Bo) of Springfield, Pamela Johnson Culberson (Calvain) of Savannah, Angela Johnson Creasy (Jim) of Roswell; great grandchildren Austin, Rowan, and Riley Wahl, Bailey and Robert Cook, Matthew and Brandon Culberson, Stuart, Abigail and Caroline Creasy; brothers Jefferson and Cleveland (Chloe) Taylor plus numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Hugh Harris Minus; sister Rosa Taylor Hall Harris;son-in-law Robert Ray Johnson and sister-in-law Edna Taylor. Visitation will be held from 1 pm - 2 pm Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Hubert C. Baker Chapel 7415 Hodgson Memorial Dr. Savannah, Georgia 31406 followed by Graveside Service at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Dr. Ben Martin, senior pastor of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church will officiate.
