Harvey Eugene Douglas, a beloved resident of Savannah, GA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the age of 75. He was born on a warm Wednesday in Douglas, Georgia, on August 3, 1949.

Harvey was the esteemed owner and operator of H.E. Douglas Construction, where he dedicated many years of his life to building not only structures but also a legacy of hard work and integrity. His employment was a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment to his community.

He was deeply rooted in his faith and a lifelong member of the Baptist church. Harvey found solace and joy in working outdoors, often spending his free time tending to yard work, a pastime that brought him immense happiness. An enthusiast of classic Westerns, he enjoyed the timeless tales of courage and adventure they brought to life.

He is survived by his loving children: Tina Douglas Eaton; Rhonda Aiken and her husband, Sean; Wanda Douglas; Tonya Sanderson and her husband, Raymond; and Harvey E. Douglas, Jr. Harvey was a cherished grandfather to several grandchildren, sharing his wisdom and love. He is also survived by his brothers, Joseph Douglas, Leon Douglas, Ronnie Douglas, and his sister, Trudy Douglas, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Julian Douglas and Mary Akins Douglas, sister, Jacqueline Douglas Cooler, and his beloved wife, Sonja Gibbs Douglas, with whom he shared many beautiful years, his sister, Jacqueline Douglas.

A gathering to celebrate Harvey’s life will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel. The family invites all who knew and loved him to commemorate his life, the laughter he shared, and the countless ways he touched those around him.
