Harriet Brunson Lynch (89) passed away February 2, 2023 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born December 27th, 1933 in Screven County in the Jackson Community and moved to Savannah as a small child.
She attended kindergarten at Millhaven Plantation in Screven County and began elementary school in Savannah. She was a 1951 Graduate of Commercial High School. Harriet was the youngest child and only daughter of Jon Aiken Brunson and Emma Louise Williamson Brunson. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Willard Aiken Brunson, William Marcus Brunson, Robert Edward Brunson and John Calvin Brunson. She married Ernest Lamar Lynch on December 28th 1951. Ernest was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone with the US Army and she joined him there for two years until his discharge. They made many wonderful life long friendships while stationed in Panama. They returned to Savannah and started raising a family. They were married for 66 years.
They had two children, Sandra Lynch, Savannah Ga and Stephen Lynch (Joleen), Tybee Island Ga. Steve and Joleen have two children, Chole V. Lynch (Milton Ga) and Lindsey N. Lynch (Pooler Ga). Chloe and Lindsey were the apple of Harriet’s eye.
Harriet worked at Savannah Bank & Trust Co in the dealer division for a number of years. She retired from Memorial Hospital where she worked originally on the switchboard and then as a unit secretary in the Dialysis Department.
Harriet was very outgoing and loved to socialize. She was instrumental in starting the Lady Cobra’s for the graduates of Commercial High School.
She always considered her classmates as family and maintained relationship with them throughout her life.
She attended Isle of Hope Baptist Church up until the last few years of her life. She loved a joke and reading non-fiction. She made lifelong friends everywhere she went. She will have a large receiving party awaiting her arrival.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406).
