Grace Savage Tuten

d. April 19, 2018

Grace Louise Savage Tuten, 95, transitioned from this life to her eternal home on April 18, 2018 at the home of one of her daughters surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, the youngest of 11 children, to the late Howard Savage and Nellie Savage (Tunstall) and moved with her mother and stepfather to Savannah when she was one year old. She was predeceased by all of her siblings and by her adoring husband of 70 years, Charles V. Tuten, Jr.

She was a longtime, faithful member of Central Christian Church, where she led Children's Church, sang in the choir, and was an active member of the Ladies Circle. More recently, she was the oldest member of First Free Will Baptist Church and thoroughly enjoyed her many new friends there. She was retired in 1984 from the Savannah Chatham County Board of Education after 28 years as a Statistical Specialist. Grace's life was rich in faith, family, friends, music, and travel...so much travel, including at least 30 cruises, bus trips, and excursions all over the world.

As the "matriarch" of the Tuten family, she will be deeply missed by her son and three daughters, listed with their spouses, Richard and Phrieda Tuten of Crawfordville, Fl.; Sandra and Bill Parrott of Savannah; Carol and Phil Hampton of Edgewater, Fl.; and Jeanette and Richard Carson of Savannah; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Tuesday April 24, 2018, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Baker McCullough- Hubert C. Baker Chapel at 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive in Savannah, Ga with the funeral service immediately following in the Hubert Baker Chapel of the Funeral Home. Pastor Michael Locklear of First Free Will Baptist Church, Pastor Lionel Marmolejo of Central Christian Church, and Pastor Howard Pendley, Chaplain with Island Hospice Savannah, will officiate. Following the service, interment will follow at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.

The family has asked that any remembrances be directed to First Free Will  Baptist Church (5210 Skidaway Road, Savannah, Ga 31406), Central Christian Church (6810 Skidaway Road, Savannah, Ga 31406) or THA Group- Island Hospice Savannah (4 Skidaway Village Walk, Savannah, Ga 31411).
