Gip C. "Sonny" Yarbrough Jr., age 77, passed away on September 17, 2021, peacefully at home after a lengthy illness.
The Savannah High graduate was a veteran of the United States Army. A respected member of the Savannah business community, he was the founder and owner of Yarbrough Towing and Recovery and Yarbrough Paint and Body. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and former President of the Savannah Area Towing Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gip C. Yarbrough Sr and Alma Ramsey, and siblings, Hazel Mitchell, Richard Yarbrough, Jerry Yarbrough, Jimmie Harvey, and Timothy Yarbrough, and grandson Brendan Yarbrough.
Survivors include his wife, Janis Foskey Yarbrough; children, Debra A. Smith (LTC (R) James J. Smith) of Richmond Hill, Adrian ”Bubba” Yarbrough of Key West, FL, Austin “Craig” Yarbrough of Savannah, Chris Foskey of Port Wentworth, Carie Hicks (Robert “Robbie” Hicks) of Savannah;13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pat Torrance, and Jane Bowman.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 20, 2021.
Chapel services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Dr., Savannah, GA 31406. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West, Dean Forest Rd, Garden City, GA.
