Gilbert Jr. "Skippy"

d. March 12, 2018

Gilbert Walter Raynor Jr. "Skippy", 57 of Savannah, Georgia passed away Thursday, March 8th, 2018.

He was the son of Gilbert Raynor and Dorothy Payne. Gil grew up in East Patchogue, New York. After finishing school, Gil enthusiastically joined the United States Army as a Water Purification Specialist.  Raynor proudly retired after 18 years of faithful service. To many he was known as "Loud mouth Raynor". Although retired from the military his title never retired. He then worked at the Coastal State Prison in Savannah Georgia for 10 years.  He was also a proud member of Compassion Christian Church (Henderson Campus). Gil was very passionate about helping others. After Hurricane Irma he had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Key West to be of service to those in need. He was very involved every year in the construction of The Journey.

His memory will be forever treasured. He is survived by his Wife, Theresa Raynor whom he married July,18th, 1981; Children Rebecca Link (Marja), Phillip Raynor (Rachael), and Elizabeth Atkins (Markeith). Grandchildren; Nathanial and Austin O'Connell, Shierra and A'mir Atkins, Peyton and Preston Raynor; Siblings, Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Gil was one who never met a stranger, he talked to everyone and anyone. He talked the loudest and the laughed the hardest. He was the first person to see you were needing help and would jump right in. He would talk your ear off while doing so but he would make sure he helped as much as he could. He really fit the meaning of give the shirt off your back. His truck was fast but his music was louder that anyone else's in a 5 mile radius. Yes, we all said he drove us crazy talking over us in a conversation but "that was dad". Gil touched so many lives in so many ways and will be forever in our hearts.

The Family would like to invite those that are able to visit, Tuesday, March 13th, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm at Baker McCullough Funeral Home-Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
