Gilbert Hewlen Nettles, Jr., age 78, died Saturday, May 20, 2017 at his residence.
Hewlen was born in 1939 in Eldora, Georgia and was the son of Gilbert Hewlen Nettles, Sr. and Ruth Lewis Nettles. He was a 1958 graduate of Commercial High School, he also graduated from Bolen-Draughon Business College. He lived a number of years in Atlanta and Chicago before moving back to Savannah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Ruth Nettles.
He is survived by his long time partner, Rodger George, his sister, Patsy Woods (Freddie), his brothers Randy Nettles (Linda) and Earl Nettles, his nieces and nephews, his dear friend and employer of over thirty years, Carolyn Luck.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Baker McCullough Funeral Home- Garden City Chapel.
