Gerald Strickland, 75, passed away Monday, October 5, 2015 at Medical University of South Carolina after a short illness. He was born in Bulloch County, Georgia, and the son of deceased John E. and Florence Nell Strickland. He lived in Savannah, Georgia, for most of his adult life and was married to the love of his life, Myrna Taylor Strickland. He was loved by everyone and did not meet a stranger. He loved life and his family and was looking forward to enjoying his granddaughters. He retired from RE/MAX Savannah after many successful years as a Realtor. He also retired from the U.S. Air Force/Georgia Air National Guard as a flight engineer with 21 years of faithful service. After his family these two were the love of his life. He enjoyed meeting with people and traveling with his military buddies throughout the world. He was a member of the Savannah Flying Air National Guard group and enjoyed the comradery of his fellow members. He was employed at Union Camp and Georgia Regional Hospital of Savannah as maintenance supervisor before entering the real estate profession. He is survived by his wife, Myrna Taylor Strickland and a son, Patrick Strickland, and daughter and son - in - law, Ginger and Craig Smith Jr. and three granddaughters, Taylor, Abigail and Samantha all from Savannah, GA. He gave them all his love and everything he had. He is also survived by one brother, Daniel Strickland of Pembroke, GA and two sisters, Linda Tillinger of Savannah, GA and Brenda Covington of Newnan, GA and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be 10 - 12 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Temple with funeral services to follow at 12 noon in the main worship center. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family wishes contributions to be made to Calvary Baptist Temple Building Fund, Savannah, GA and to the Gideons International, P.O.
