George A. Vail

February 26, 1933 — August 24, 2021

George A. Vail, 88, of Savannah passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at his home under the care of Compassus Hospice and his wonderful caregivers who treated him like family.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the son of the late George Albro Vail, Jr. and Grace Muench Vail.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 58 years, Ruth Patton Mitchell Vail, a grandson, Timothy David Vail and his sister, Lois Frigerio.

George was a graduate of Newark College of Engineering and was US Air Force Veteran. He was retired from Balchem Corporation in New York as a Chemical Engineer, he was also Vice President of Manufacturing and Plant Manager of Balchem Corporation. He was a member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church, a volunteer for 10+ years at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum, he loved volunteering and helping others. He was a 33rd degree Mason member of the Landrum Lodge #48, F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite Consistory, Alee Shrine Temple, National Sojourners Hunter Chapter #502 and The Royal Order of Scotland, The Provincial Grand Lodge R.S.Y.C.S. and Provincial Grand Chapter, H.R.M. of K.L.W.N.G. of the United States of America.

George was devoted to his family and friends, who will miss him dearly. His survivors include his son and daughter and their spouses, Laura Vail Murad and Charles, of Danbury, Connecticut and David George Vail and Lisa of Dacula, Georgia, two granddaughters, Rachel and Sara, other family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the Funeral Home.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 1, 2021 Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church with Pastor Benton "Ben" C. Martin officiating.

The family has asked that masks be worn.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum, or Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church.
