George Ellison Counts
George Ellison Counts, 79, of Guyton died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Hospice Savannah, Inc. with his family by his side.
George was born in Aiken, SC to Ellison and Laura Mildred Cummings Taylor then adopted by his loving parents Ezzie and Lizzie Johnson Counts. He was raised in Newington, GA later moving to Savannah, GA. George loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He worked his entire career as a Crane Operator thru the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 474. He was also a member of the Guyton Masonic Lodge #428 F&AM for 57 years.
George was preceded in death by his father and mother and is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janis Wise Counts; four daughters, Christina Douberly (Joseph), Georgia Pontakakis (Chris), Debbie Sell (Dennis) and Cindy Counts. Beloved grandsons Taylor and Ryan Douberly. Beloved granddaughters Erika Palpal-latoc, Megan Wegner, Kelsey Dattage and Sadie Vandible. Also 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Thursday March 30, 2017 at the Baker McCullough Chapel.
Burial: Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Newington, GA.
