George C. Burnsed, 79, of Bloomingdale, Georgia died Sunday April 18, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Savannah and was raised in Effingham County and graduated from Effingham High School.
Over his career he worked at Critz Buick and Dixie Motors before owning his own business George's Service Center where he retired. He was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division of the Army. He loved to fish, loved to participate in parades and camping, loved to dance and that is where he met his wife. He loved life and was blessed with many friends over the years. He was always a helping hand to anyone that needed it.
He was a member of Frank F. Baker Masonic Lodge #46, F & A M's. He was a member of Scottish Rite Consistory, Valley of Savannah. He was a member of the Delma Cowart Race Team. He was a member of Alee Shrine Temple, and the Dune Cat Unit where he was past president. He was a member of Powers Baptist Church in Eden, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Tyra Burnsed, and brother, Bobby Burnsed.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Burnsed, son Troy C. Burnsed, brothers Kennon Burnsed (Barbara Jean), and Vernon Burnsed of Blacksburg, Virginia, mother in law, Bea Jordan, brother in law, Steve Jordan (Tammy), sister in law, Wynette Rodi, step daughters, Suzanne Bridges (Billy) and Emily Yearwood (Shane) and granddaughter, Riley Yearwood, step grandkids, Jackson and Peyton McCutchen and a number of nieces and nephews and cousins.
We want to thank the many therapists that gave us hope that he would walk again and Compassus Hopsice for their support. Thank you to the friends and family that prayed and supported.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made Powers Baptist Church Building Fund or the Morris Slotin Fund at Alee Temple.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be members of the Alee Dune Cat Unit.
Visitation will be 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel
Funeral Service 11:00 am Wednesday at Powers Baptist church Eden, Georgia
Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
