Gary Lee Chester, age 80, of Savannah, GA passed away Friday, April 28, 2023 at home under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Mr. Chester was born on December 19, 1942 in Atlanta, GA, the son of the late Albert and Dorothy Dees Chester. He attended South Cobb High School in Austell, GA. He worked as a lineman with Great Dane Trailers for 39 years and later worked in sales with Autoworld on Victory Drive. He was a member of Garden City Baptist Church and later Savannah Christian Church. Gary loved cars and was a collector of Diecast and Matchbox cars. He was also a coin collector and kept a thorough record of his collections.
Mr. Chester was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Jo Ann Chester; and his sisters, Madelyn Jackson and Reba Henderson. He is survived by his son, Albert Lee Chester (Melanie); daughter, Patricia Ann Kelley (Donald B. Kelley, Jr.); grandchildren, Leigh Anne (AJ), Jimmy (Sara), Mitch (Meche), and Matthew (Kaitlin); and great grandchildren, Mila Leigh, Quest, and Liam.
A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
