Retired Aerospace Wizard Passes Away
Gary Ervin Gamet began his journey in Bossier City, Louisiana on January 30, 1953 and joined his much loved parents, Floyd and Frances in Heaven on April 7, 2023.
After graduating from high school, Gary enlisted in the Navy as an avionics electrician on board the USS America and USS Nimitz. He had a strong work ethic as a proud Navy serviceman, with no patience for neither politics nor stupid people. After military service, Gary had a very successful career in aeronautical engineering. He was a highly commended employee of Gulfstream Aerospace and Falcon Jet. Gary has also worked on numerous projects for NASA, NOAA, FedEx, UPS, and The Dallas Cowboys. In addition to this, he’s worked on Air Force One, Air Force Two, and a multitude of aircraft owned by international dignitaries. Gary also worked closely with Danny Zuko, Captain Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, and Indiana Jones on their private aircraft.
Gary had a particular fondness for playing Mahjong and watching Hallmark Channel films, so a big shoutout to Dolly Parton! His love for chicken fried steak and sautéed mushrooms was only surpassed by his fondness for movies of all kinds (the cornier the better) and shopping at Sam’s Club.
Gary enjoyed entertaining his family members with stories of his past. Even in his eternal absence, his infectious laugh is perhaps his most well-known characteristic, and it prompted everybody in his presence to laugh as well. He is also remembered for his generous spirit and selfless heart. He truly left this world a better place.
He is survived by his forever grateful sons, Little Gary and Brad, his adoring grandsons, Carson, Cameron, Lochlan, Carter, Cooper, and Callen; as well as his brothers, Chuck, David, and Jimmy, and countless extended family that he loved very much.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his Savannah friends and family, especially Jane, Edison, and Alex Yang. Their loyalty and kindness will always be remembered.
Gary was known by many names, “Big Gary, Dad, Grandpa Gary, and Gary With the Gray Hair”. No matter which one you called him, he was a guardian angel to all. He spent his earthly life keeping a watchful eye on the skies from below, and now he will be keeping watch over us from above.
Gary will be laid to rest by his mother, Frances and his niece, Jennifer in Alexander, Arkansas. A memorial service will be held at a time yet to be determined.
