Frank R. Butler, 67, of Port Wentworth passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 at his home.
Born in Rome, Georgia, Frank was the son of the late Joy Formby. He was retied from KIM Distributing and attended North Salem Baptist Church.
Frank was a US Army veteran; he served one tour during the Vietnam War, twice injured (Door Gunner on a helicopter unit, 7th Calvary) and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He enjoyed cooking and grilling, fishing, playing computer games, building models (airplanes, ships and trains) and woodworking. He loved being with and surrounded by his family, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Frank loved being the life of the party, always cracking jokes and laughing.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Renee' Butler, children, Jeannie Thomas (Steve), James Sheffield (Darlene), grandchildren, Courtney Parker (Wesley), Casey Smart (Jonathon), Britini Blackmore (Jonathan), Rebecca Thomas, Alex Thomas, great grandchildren, Tormund Blackmore, Boone Smart, siblings, Tim Formby, Harold Formby, Jr., Angela Formby Butler, a host of nieces and nephews, and his dog, Mack that brought him joy and happiness daily.
A gathering for family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at North Salem Baptist Church with services beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Quillian "Brother Q" Mercer officiating.
