Frances Ubele, age 86, went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 29, 2024, after a long illness, under the care of her Son John, Grandson Matthew and in her last days, Hospice Savannah. She was born February 19, 1938, in Savannah to Johnathan Gaston Haupt, Jr and Edna Reynolds Haupt, who have both preceded her in death, along with her former husband, Edward H. Ubele, Sr. and her son, Edward H. Ubele, Jr.(Chip).
Frances was a 1955 graduate of Savannah High School. She worked and retired from Candler Hospital in 2001. She was a longtime member Calvary Baptist Temple and Bethel Baptist Church in Richmond Hill. She loved her Pastor Brian Cooper at Bethel Baptist.
She loved to catch and cook crabs from her river along with gardening, planting trees and flowers around her home. She also enjoyed cooking for her family.
Frances is survived by one son, John F. Ubele (Teresa), of Savannah; three grandchildren, Matthew Ubele, Joshua Ubele (Kay-lyn), and Brooke Ubele Wilkey, three great-grandchildren, Kimber, Brynn, and Evy, a sister, Anne Haupt McLeskey, along with three nieces, Deanne, Laurie, and Rhonda.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Ubele, Joshua Ubele, Chris Ubele, Jay Johnson, Steve Cooler, and Bay Brown.
A visitation and viewing will be held Tuesday, March 5th, 2024 at 11:00am for 1 hour, with the funeral service being help immediately after at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Baker McCullough - Savannah, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah. Pastor Brian Cooper of Bethel Baptist Church of Richmond Hill will be officiating. Burial will take place immediately after the funeral service at Greenwich Cemetery. Before Frances passed, she had requested that those who attended her service, wear casual attire.
