Mrs. Frances Lucille Gordy, daughter of the late George Fred Douberly and the late Hazel Eloise Gaylord was born July 27th, 1938 in Savannah, Georgia. She was employed with Kroger where she worked as a meat clerk in the food department. Mrs. Gordy was a member and Past Matron of the Amity Chapter 183 Order of Eastern Stars, DeMolay Mothers Club for 18 years, and a member of International Order of Rainbow for 8 consecutive years as the adviser. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, George Fred Douberly, mother, Hazel Eloise Gaylord, husband, James Gordy, and two sister, Geraldine Hendrix and Joyce Wilson; and one brother, William Edward Douberly . Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: one daughter, Sheila (Jeffrey) Williams Concord, NC; two sons, William (MaryAnn) Gordy Trenton, New Jersey and Carl (Jennifer) Gordy Savannah, GA; one brother, Vernard (Linda) Douberly Bristo, Virginia; one sister, Emily L. Cash Savannah, GA; eight grandchildren, Matthew Gordy, Dominique Gordy, William Gordy, David Gordy, Catherine Morgan Gordy *Morgan*, Zachery Moseley, Jennifer Williams Watkins, and James Franklin Williams; 2 great grandchildren, Micha Gordy and Lucas Watkins, with baby Brentley Williams who is on the way; several nieces and nephews who she loved and adore.
Visitation for Mrs. Gordy will be Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Huber C. Baker Chapel located on 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, Ga.
