Frances Blakely Stanley, age 76, of Savannah passed away Sunday July 25, 2021.
Frances (Frankie) was born on August 31, 1944 in Savannah. She was the daughter of the late LaMurl and Frank Blakely. She graduated from Savannah High School, Class of 1962. Frances continued her education, completing her Masters Degree in Nursing at the University of Florida and a member of the Nursing Honors Society. Professionally, she served as the Program Director and a RN Instructor (Pediatrics) for many years at J Sergeant Reynolds Community College in Richmond, VA. During retirement, Frances continued showing passion for helping others in many ways such as tutoring students, coordinating the Backpack Buddies Program for Gasden Elementary School, the local Southside Optimists Club and foster care. Frances always had a special place in her heart for children. She was viewed by many as the matriarch for Trinity United Methodist Church.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; LaMurl Shuman Blakley and Frank Blakely, and sister, Kathy Mayo. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Bill Stanley; son, Will (Emily); sister, Susan Hall (Albert) of Atlanta, GA; brother, Raymond Blakely (Beverly) of Nashville, TN; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be receiving friends from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 225 W President Street, Savannah, GA, 31401, officiated by Rev. Ben Gosden and Rev. Sam Watkins.
