Felton Rewis passed peacefully from this life to his Heavenly home July 2, 2017. He was 93 years old. He was received into heaven by his Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he faithfully followed and served.
A celebration of life for Mr. Rewis will be held at 11:00, Wednesday, July 5, in the Sanctuary of Woodlawn Baptist Church of Garden City with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Mr. Rewis will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 5, from 10:00 until the hour of the service in the Sanctuary of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
Mr. Rewis was born in Tattnall County, Ga , the son of Lewis Rewis and Lithia Collins Rewis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loreta Wilson Rewis,to whom he was married for 68 years, and daughter, Catherine Darnell Rewis, of Garden City, Ga.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His life focused around hisloving family. From hischildren to his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, and hisnieces and nephews, he cared about each and every one of them. Their love for him filled his heart with joy and made him feel special.
He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church for 48 years. He served on several church committees and was a faithful member of the Senior Adult Sunday School class.
For fifty-seven years he was a member of Clinton Masonic Lodge #54.
Before retiring, he was an ironworker and member of the Ironworkers Local Union 709.
Felton enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He would gladly share his skill for growing vegetables as well as telling his fishing stories to anyone that had time to listen. He and his fishing buddies delighted in retelling those stories over and over.
He will be missed by his children, Calvin and Carol Rewis; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brent and Angela Rewis, Greysen and Haley: Barry and Anne Rewis, Tanner and Tate.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support shown in many heartfelt forms from family, friends, neighbors, caregivers, and Hospice of Savannah.
