Faye Walker McElveen of Garden City, Georgia – Dedicated Mother, Grandmother and friend to many – passed away on October 21, 2022, at the age of 89 in Savannah, Georgia.
Faye was born to Raymon Embry Walker & Mary Hilliard Walker on September 24, 1933. She graduated from Vidalia High School and went on to obtain her Bachelor of Business Administration from Armstrong Atlantic State University (known as Armstrong College at the time). She went on to work as Plant Controller of Johns Manville’s Savannah location (since Owens Corning) where she later retired from.
She spent her retirement with her beloved husband John traveling anywhere and everywhere that they could until his untimely passing in 2000. She then started spending time at the local Senior Center (Garden City, GA) where she made many friends, as well as taking care of her Great Grand Children during the day and continuing to travel as much as possible with her Granddaughter and Dear friends.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents Raymon & Mary Walker, her brothers Matthew & Charles Walker, Her Daughter Rene’ Kirby as well as her beloved husbands Harold Kirby (1974) and John McElveen (2000), She was also survived by her spouse James Hurt who has since also passed.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her granddaughter, Victoria Leigh (Tory); great grandchildren, Ashlynn Hope, Ryan Addison, Ryleigh Braxton & Steven Christopher; grandson, Francis Folgarait (Brooks); stepson, John W. McElveen; brother, Mather Walker; as well as several nieces and nephews that she adored.
She was the absolute life beat of our family. If you met her, you loved her. There was absolutely nothing that she couldn’t do. She will forever be cherished and missed.
A Visitation will be held Friday October 28, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baker McCullough Funeral Home- Garden City Chapel.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday October 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Baker McCullough Funeral Home- Garden City Chapel.
Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Lawrence Baptist Church Cemetery in Statesboro, GA.
