Evelyn Coleman Hagins, 91, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 15, 2022.
Evelyn was born to Willie and Sweetie Coleman and raised in Metter, Georgia. Evelyn and her husband Jerome L. Hendrix married in 1949 and moved to Savannah, where they raised three children together. Evelyn married Wally Hagins in 1977 and were together until he passed with Evelyn by his side in 2004.
Evelyn was devoted to her family. She cherished their time together and felt complete when in their presents. She was always smiling, and a joy to be around. Evelyn always enjoyed a good shopping trip, loved to travel and explore new places, and liked to relax by sewing. She was a talented seamstress.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick "Wally" Hagins; brothers, Buddy Coleman, and Junior Kersey; and Tibby, Evelyn's devoted and loved canine.
She is survived by her son, Jerome "Bogator" Hendrix (Linda); her daughters, Patti Simoneaux (Patrick), and Pam Sammons (Chuck); brother, Charles Nutter; sister, Debrah Kangetter; 6 grandchildren, Jeremy Hendrix (Rais), Bolden Simoneaux (Meagan), Jennifer Windley (Dean), Christopher Johnson (Jennifer, JK), Landon Johnson (Caroline), Rusty Stephens, and 7 great-grandchildren, Jacob Hendrix, Everly Simoneaux, Liam Windley, River Windley, Ben Johnson, Ian Johnson, and Leo Johnson.
Family will be accepting friends Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home-Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
A funeral service will take place Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home- Hubert C. Baker Chapel. An interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
