Eugene Dixon

Retired United States Air Force CMSGT Eugene Dixon, age 97, went to be with the Lord July 15, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born January 16, 1926, in Baxley, Georgia to the late Algie and Preston Dixon. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty B. Dixon; and three sisters. He graduated from Baxley High School and continued his education at University of Georgia and Savannah Vocation-Technical School. After High School, he served over two years in the Army Air Corp. during World War II. He was recalled into the United States Air Force at the beginning of the Korean Conflict and served over twenty-two years, retiring in 1973. He and his wife relocated to Savannah where he was employed by Chatham County for thirteen years before retiring in 1988.

Mr. Dixon was an active member of The CrossRoad Baptist Church. He is survived by four nieces and his loving and caring Church Family.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at The CrossRoad Baptist Church, 8510 Middleground Road, Savannah, Georgia, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 10:00 a.m.

Burial with full military honors will be in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery following the service.
