Ernest Washington, age 66, of Savannah, died Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Eagle Health and Rehabilitation Center in Statesboro after an extended illness. He was born in Savannah on October 5, 1958 to Mrs. Albertha Washington. Ernest lived in Savannah all his life, and was a 1975 graduate of Savannah High School. He joined the United States Air Force and later graduated from University of Phoenix with a Master's degree in Business Administration. Ernest worked as a chef at the Charter House on River Street for many years and attended First African Baptist Church in Savannah, where he was baptized. In his spare time he was an avid singer, and loved to spend time with his family and friends. He especially loved to cook and was always a happy and upbeat person. He is preceded in death by his son, Ernest Washington Jr.; his mother; his grandmother, Beatrice Washington; a brother, Arthur Washington; and a sister, Bessie Washington.
His family includes his sister, Beverly Royals of Savannah and several, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406.)
