Ernest Graham Perry Sr., 80, of Ellabell, GA passed away Friday, August 4, 2023 at Riverview Health and Rehab Center in Savannah, Georgia.
A native of Savannah, Georgia, he was the son of Marion Perry and Opal Lee Clark Perry.
Ernest was educated in the Savannah-Chatham school system and graduated from Savannah High School in 1960. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He would go on to meet and marry the mother of his children, Leslie, Ernie and Dena, Gwen Blaylock in 1965. Later, in 1989, he would marry the love of his life, Frankie Noonan, who remained by his side until his passing.
Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Ernest pursued a career in the industrial industry as an electrician. In that capacity, he was employed by L.B. Foster, Rainier and most recently, Briggs and Stratton. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for the 7th District Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
He will be remembered as a good, godly man who strived to be a wonderful father to his children. He enjoyed spending all the time he could with them, including coaching Ernie's little league teams. In his spare time, he could be found tinkering with any number of fast cars, a life-long passion, and was so good at it that he could diagnose a mechanical issue just by listening to the engine run. He will be truly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Lee Perry; brother-in-law, Alex Quarterman and son-in-law, Jason Johnson.
Survivors include his loving wife, Frankie Noonan Perry; children, Leslie Hill, Ernie Perry (Kasey) and Dena Johnson; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; siblings, Ellen Miller (David), Roy Perry (Nancy) and Alice Quarterman; sister-in-law, Janice Perry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 9, at Noon in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Allen Perry officiating. The family will receive friends from 10am until the time of the service on Wednesday. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
