Emily Ridgle Long, 76, of Savannah, Ga passed away in her home August 14, 2018, surrounded by her family, after a long illness.
Born January 11, 1942 to Johnnie and Jane Ridgle in Williamsburg County, South Carolina and officially named June 27, 1946 (her daddy called her "Baby Girl")!
I have been told that if you picked on her, her brother Bernie, her sister Dianne, or had something bad to say about her family, you would soon regret it.
She graduated from H.V. Jenkins High School's second senior class in 1960 and went into a career in nursing earning her license in October of 1969 and continued that career with Memorial Medical Center (through 1994) and several nursing homes around the Savannah area until she retired in 2018.
During a trip to Trader Louie's in the late 60's, a young fellow named George asked her to dance. She married him on November 28, 1970 and had four children: Lee, Kevin, Melissa, and Lindsay. Between Kevin and Melissa, she has five grandchildren Juliann, Ashley, April, Eliza, and Sophie. Her "other daughter" Anna decided to marry her oldest son in 1994.
