Emily Morgan Horton

Heaven gained a loving wife, mother, and friend as Emily Morgan Horton was greeted with “well done good and faithful servant” when she passed peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 after quietly and boldly battling metastatic breast cancer for more than 5 years. Born in Louisville, Georgia on December 16, 1981, Emily has been a blessing to the many people she’s impacted through her 41 years on earth as a wife to her beloved Robert V Horton III, mother to Robert IV (15) and Reynolds (13), as well as a friend and mentor to many.

Emily was an honor graduate of the Jefferson County High School Class of 2000. After high school, Emily moved to Statesboro and obtained her Cosmetology Degree from Ogeechee Technical College. She was known as a gifted hair stylist and make up artist, where she used her gifts to not only help her clients feel beautiful, but also to encourage them in their lives and passions. When she was not in the salon working alongside her husband, she was a full time mom, often taking her children to school and extracurricular activities. She was a member of Compassion Christian Church where she was baptized into Christ.

In addition to her beloved family, she is survived by her father, Wade Reggie Morgan (Karen Treadway), and brothers William Robert Morgan and Michael Wesley Morgan, as well as her paternal grandmother, Barbara Holmes, and her dear mother-in-law, Margaret Vorhees. Emily is preceded in death by her loving mother, Diana Reynolds Periman, her maternal grandparents, John and Grace Reynolds, as well as her paternal grandfather, Ray Morgan.

A celebration of Emily’s life will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Isle of Hope Methodist church, officiated by her pastor Harrison Huxford. In lieu of flowers, contributions towards a trust set up in Robert’s and Reynolds’ name would be a tremendous blessing. You can donate by going to Workman’s Circle Credit Union.
