Edwin "Eddie" Bradley

Edwin "Eddie" Bradley, 89, passed away on September 5th, 2016 at home. He was born in Savannah, Georgia on October 15, 1926. Eddie lived his life to the fullest as a loving husband, father and grandfather and through the activities he enjoyed. He was a locksmith, safe-cracker, US Navy Sailor, gunsmith, expert horseman, champion marksman, goat farmer and weightlifter. He was a member of the Greatest Generation who served his country in WWII.
Eddie was unlocking doors and cracking safes at a young age while working for the family business, Bradley Lock and Key. At the outbreak of WWII he joined the Georgia State Guard, even though he was under age. As soon as he turned 18 in 1944, he enlisted in the Navy with service in the Pacific. Returning from the war in 1946, he entered the family business and took over the gun repair shop. He earned a reputation for being one of the best gunsmiths in the Savannah area and continued to actively repair firearms into his 80's. Eddie's skill with the pistol earned him a place in the Greater Savannah Sports Hall of Fame. He holds several national shooting records and the Civilian Marksmanship Program Distinguished Pistol Shot Medal for excellence with a service pistol. In 1972 he was presented with a Resolution from the Georgia State Senate acknowledging his contribution to shooting sports in Georgia. He continued participating in shooting sports into his 80's. In his 70's he took up weightlifting, earning several medals in competitions and a national record in his age category. He was also in the JEA Hall of Fame. Eddie will always be remembered for warmly welcoming friends and acquaintances to his shooting range near Pembroke, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Scheller-Bradley; 2 daughters, Gay Bradley and Angela Bradley Aranda Lingle (Chip); son, Philip Bradley (Jodi); sister, Joy Warshaw (Irvin); brother, William "Dennie" Bradley (Riette); and three grandchildren, Daveed Aranda, Skye and Ayden Bradley.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 10th from 2 to 4 pm at Baker-McCullough Funeral Home, Bonaventure Chapel, 2520 Bonaventure Rd, Savannah, Georgia. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, Statesboro, Georgia. http://www.oahospice.org/
