Dwyght L. Seymour, 78, of Richmond Hill died Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
Dwyght was born to Robert and Irene Seymour in Haworth, OK on January 10, 1942. He had two brothers Michael and Jim and one sister Frieda. He was preceded in death by his brother Jim and his sister Frieda.
He lived with his family in Oklahoma until his mother died when he was 15. Soon thereafter he entered the US Army in November of 1959 where he served honorably until December of 1979. He was stationed in many places within the United States and also in Korea and Germany, and served in the Viet Nam War with the Military Assistance Command Viet Nam during the Tet Offensive of 1968. He was awarded numerous Awards, Honors, and Medals during his service including the Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star with Valor Device, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.
After his retirement from the military, he continued to serve with the Civil Service until his second retirement when working at the Naval Hospital Beaufort, SC. Where he was again awarded civil honors and awards for exemplary service.
In the last decades of his life, he was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Savannah, GA. He served the church in the capacity of a leader of the Ushers and hostesses and sat on the board of trustees. He loved his church family and was loved in turn. Special mention should be made of his closest friend Rich Coca, whom he was very close to.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years Georgia Seymour in February of 1997. He was also preceded in death by his wife Betty Seymour in January of 2015. He was unmarried at the time of his decease.
He is survived by two sons, Kevin Seymour and Matthew Seymour; and grandchildren Kevin Seymour, Nathan Seymour, Braeden Seymour, and Ninea Huffman. He is also Survived by his brother Michael Seymour and wife Earlene, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also, whom he loved much and spoke of often.
Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Uncle to many and loved deeply by family and friends. We may say goodbye for now, but we know that in that last glorious morning we shall be reunited in eternity.
A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at First United Pentecostal Church, 1735 Grove Point Road Savannah Georgia 31419.
