Dorothy Wilson Dabbs of Savannah went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Hospice of Savannah. She was 84 years old.
She was a lifetime member of the Church of God, including Barnard Street Church of God, Garden City Church of God, Derenne Avenue Church of God, and Coastal Cathedral Church of God. She played the piano for the church choir for many years and loved directing the youth plays. She was an ardent supporter of missionaries and ministries all over the world.
Dorothy was a strong and independent red head who loved to shop. For many years she worked at C&S Bank in Savannah. Dorothy was a deeply devout Christian, an avid reader and gardener, and joy to her family and friends. Always ready with sage advice, quick wit, and a beautiful laugh, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar Thomas Dabbs. She leaves two sons, Douglas Dessureaux and Michael Driggers both of Savannah, Georgia, and two step-children, Jacquelyn Dabbs Stokes and Thomas Andrew Dabbs, both of Columbia, South Carolina. She leaves two granddaughters, Ashley Driggers and Jennifer Driggers and three great grandchildren, Bryce, Ashton, and Aiden. She also leaves two brothers, Joe Wilson and Pelzer Wilson Jr., countless nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many good friends, including Joy and Mary Hamm, Juanita Googe, and Mary Ennis.
Remembrances can be sent to Margaret Gaines, a missionary friend to whom Dorothy was close and made regular contributions.
