Doris Norton Willoughby, 85, passed away at the home of her daughter in Simpsonville, SC, August 15, 2020.
She was born May 31, 1935 in Blountstown, Florida to the late Lemuel B. and Ada Norton.
She was a homemaker, and a lifetime member of Bull Street Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for over 60 years and was a member of the Nelson Sunday School Class. She enjoyed league bowling at Victory Lanes for many years. She was a member of Precepta Beta Kappa Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. While her children were in school, she was active in all aspects of their school life at Savannah Christian School from 1972-1980. All members of her family were an important part of her life.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John D. Willoughby Sr., her sister, Lois N. Bearden, a brother, Rev. Dewey Norton and a great grandson, John Patrick Sauers.
Surviving are sons, John D. Willoughby Jr. (Helen) and Ronald N. Willoughby; daughters, Beverly W. Klenke (Rick) and Donna W. Olsen (Kurt); twin sister, Dorothy N. Bright; sister-in-law, Ann W. Norton; "her babies”; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, along with many "favorite" nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 6-8PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 11am Thursday in the chapel of the funeral home with Reverends Earnie Pirkle and Bill Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey on Wheaton Street. All Covid-19 precautions will be in place.
