Donald H. Smith, Sr.

Donald H. Smith, Sr., age 70, of Savannah passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at home.

Mr. Smith was born on November 21, 1951 in Savannah, the son of the late Aubrey H. and Evelyn Smith. He was a 1971 graduate of Savannah High School. He worked as a welder with Kemira, retiring after 20 years of service. Following retirement, he was the owner of Expert Landscaping, Inc. Donald was also an avid hunter and owner of Pulaski Hunting Club in Statesboro and a member of Compassion Christian Church – East Campus.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald A. Smith, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Phyllis H. Smith; son, Donald H. Smith, Jr. (April Saxon); sisters, Gloria Reid (Sam) and Shannon Saggus (Hoyt); brother, Joseph Smith; granddaughter, Kayla J. Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association.
