Diane King Smith, age 88, of Savannah, GA passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020.
Mrs. Smith was born on August 29, 1931 in Baxley, GA, the daughter of the late Joseph Fredrick King and Etta Gordon King. She was a 1953 graduate of Mercer University and continued her formal education at Savannah State University, earning her Master’s Degree. She served for 27 years as a second grade teacher at Thunderbolt Elementary School. She was a longtime member of Bull Street Baptist Church.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Arthur E. Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Debra L. Cowart (Robert), their children, Christopher (Katie) and Casey (Victoria); son, Mikell K. Smith, his children, Patrick Smith and Rachel Maxwell (Chris); daughter, Kimberly Hefner, her children, Amy Hughes (Jonathan) and Jeremy Hefner (Arwen); brother, William T. King; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Baker McCullough Funeral Home is assisting the family with a private funeral service.
