Dessie William Johnson, 95, of Savannah, GA. died Monday January 30, 2017 at Riverview Nursing Home. He was born in Bulloch County and lived most of his life in Savannah, GA. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. He was a graduate of Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science in Nashville, Tennessee. He Founded Johnson & Sons Funeral Home in Metter, GA., and Johnson Convalescent Home in Savannah, GA. He was a member of Savannah Alcoholics Anonomous Organization, where he helped to sponsor many people in need of help. He retired from Home Furnishings as a Salesman.
He is survived by 1 son, Walter Johnson of Savannah, GA.; 1 daughter, T'Lene Johnson Saulter (Buzzy) of Savannah, GA.; 2 grandchildren, Kim Weathers and Robyn Hooks (Leon) and 3 great-grandchildren, Robert Hooks, Jodie and Janie Weathers.
Visitation: 5 - 7 pm Wednesday February 1, 2017 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Huber C. Baker Chapel 7415 Hodgson Memorial Dr. Savannah, GA. 31406.
Funeral Service: 11 am Thursday in the Chapel of the funeral home.
Interment at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
