Delores Tuten Coy Denny passed away in her sleep on Saturday, May 6, 2017, after battling various illnesses over the last few years. Delores was of the Catholic faith. She was born in Savannah on October 23, 1953, to John C. Tuten and Marjorie Taylor Tuten and was a lifelong resident of Savannah, GA. She graduated from Cathedral Day School in 1967 and from St. Vincent's Academy in 1971. While at St. Vincent's, Delores was a proud, 4 year member of the Chorale, as well as the Senior Choir, served on Student Council, and was Class Secretary. She went on to graduate from Memorial Medical Center's School of Radiologic Technology in 1973. Delores' successful career as a Radiologic Technologist spanned many years here in Savannah. She also attended Central Carolina Community College in Sanford, NC, where she obtained her license as a certified Esthetician. She then enjoyed working for several spas in the Savannah area as an Esthetician.
Delores was fearless, adventurous and loved to travel the world. She also especially loved and was devoted to her faithful canine companions over the years: Petey, Bromo, Buckwheat and Maddie. Her sense of humor, gift of story-telling, and her fun-loving spirit will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege to know and love her.
She is predeceased by her parents John C. Tuten, Jr. and Marjorie Taylor Tuten; grandparents John Claussen Tuten, Sr., Carlisle Peck Tuten and Sarah Caroline Taylor; stepmother Bernice Parrish Tuten; and mother-in-law Jane deVane Denny.
She is survived by her husband Taylor Denny; a sister Marjorie Tuten Tracy (Thomas A.) of Savannah, and a brother Daniel A. Tuten (Joanie) of Carmel, IN; her father-in-law Sheridan C. Denny; sister-in-law Robin Denny; a niece Jennifer Tracy Young (Nicholas), and nephew Michael J. Tracy (Liz); and several beloved great nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are stepsisters Barbara Missroon (Robert), Jane Shelton (Don), Linda Zeigler, Helen Missroon (Larry), and stepbrother Bennie C. Parrish (Jody); the family of Patty & Joe Schreck, her "second home," and countless good friends.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Dr., Savannah, GA, on Friday, May 19, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Burial will be private.
