Dawn DeCamp, age 67, passed away Friday, August 23, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in Albemarle, North Carolina and raised in Savannah, Georgia. She graduated from Windsor Forest High School in 1974.
Dawn was in Girl Scouting from Brownies through Seniors where she earned her First Class Award. (currently known as Gold Award) She loved camping in the mountains of North Carolina where she met her future husband in 1970 when they were just 13 and 14 years old.
Dawn was a proud mom of 2 sons who introduced her to Sci-Fi, horror films, and loud music. They all had Black Belts in Taekwondo, where the boys outranked her. They were a great little family of 3 for many years.
Dawn worked as an EMG Tech at Savannah Neurology for 28 years with Doctors Stanley, Hemphill, and Greenberg. She later worked at SouthCoast Neurology with Dr. Rosenfeld until retirement.
Dawn was a member of White Bluff Presbyterian Church where she served as both Deacon and Elder. She was active in Women's Circle, Craft Fair, and the Memory Garden Committees. She also enjoyed line dancing and chair yoga.
Dawn is survived by her husband, Daniel, that Boy Scout from long ago. He brought the love and adventure into her life as they explored his home state of Indiana and then Georgia. Dan was by her side as she fought cancer.
She is survived by her boys, Zachary (Megan Sheehan) Copeland, Caleb (Rebecca Thiele) Copeland; as well as her sister, Janet H. Mariette. Other survivors include her nephew, Ashley Johnson; niece, Stephanie Beusse Burr and their families; five step children; four step grandchildren; as well as amazing friends and loving in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her parents, T.O. and Ruby Harrington; and her sister, Deb Beusse.
The memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024 with the Reverend Doctor John Ruehl presiding at White Bluff Presbyterian Church, 10710 White Bluff Rd #4, Savannah, GA 31406.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to White Bluff Presbyterian Church and/or Hospice Savannah.
