David Talmadge Herrington, Sr., husband of Janie Herrington, of Savannah, died, Friday, April 21 at his home under the care of Pruitt Hospice, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Baxley, GA in 1927, a son of the late Dewitt and Marnella McKinzie Herrington.
Talmadge served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He retired from Union Camp after 37 years of service.
He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church for over 50 years and later became a member of Isle of Hope Baptist Church where he served as an active deacon. He was a member of Thunderbolt Masonic Lodge # 693, Alee Temple Shriners Dunecat Unit where he served as president.
Talmadge was a good friend, great father and a faithful servant of the Lord.
He was predeceased by his oldest son, David T. Herrington, Jr.; two brothers, Colon and Carroll Herrington.
Talmadge is survived by his wife; two sons, Dale Herrington (Marcia) and Gary Herrington (Pat); six grandchildren, Jeremy Herrington (Lesley), Alison Herrington , Ashley Herrington, Ryan Herrington, Allison Price and Jon Renz; five great grandchildren, Aleaha, Josh, Genevieve, Alice and Emily; one sister, Mrs. Eula Butler (Bill); four brothers, Roy (Georgia), Russell, Johnny (Virginia) and Bobby (Jackie) Herrington
Remembrances: Isle of Hope Baptist Church, 22 Rose Avenue, Savannah 31406 or Shriners Hospitals for Children , 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 or to a charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Monday, April 24 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, and from 12:00pm until 1:00pm, Tuesday at Isle of Hope Baptist Church before the service.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, April 25 at Isle of Hope Baptist Church, 22 Rose Avenue, Savannah. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Abbey, 1600 Wheaton Street, Savannah.
