Guyton

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Christopher "Chris" Stephens, a dedicated son, friend, and an esteemed member of his community. David left this world on Wednesday, January 15th, 2025, at the age of 57.

Born on a spring morning in Savannah, Georgia, on May 1st, 1967, Chris grew up with a spirit filled with warmth and kindness that left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Residing in Guyton, GA, Chris lived a life as enriching as it was inspiring, rooted deeply in the values he cherished.

Chris was an industrial electrician, proudly working for VOS Electric for 27 years.

Outside of his professional life, Chris was a man full of passions. A lifetime member of the Garden City United Methodist Church, he found joy and purpose within his community of faith. Chris was also an avid fisherman and a fervent fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, embracing the joys and challenges of the outdoors and savoring the thrill of college football.

Chris is remembered as a wonderful and loving son, profoundly protective of his mother, Paula Beaty Stephens, who survives him. He also leaves behind a cherished aunt, Margie Attaway, along with aunt Debbie Beaty, dear cousins Hope and Richard Stephens, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peacock, Randy Peacock, and god-cousins Jackie and Jennifer Moody. His absence will also be deeply felt by his special family friends David and Pam Hill, Marion and Margaret Hutson, Johnny Long, and Mrs. Sandra Moody, along with close friend Eric McCallie. The family wishes to thank Jennifer Kublin for all of her kind care and loving friendship towards Chris during his illness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Saffold Danny Stephens; maternal grandmother, Frances Oglesby; maternal grandparents, Bernard and Sarah Beaty; paternal grandparents, Saffold and Iney Stephens; and uncle, John Attaway.

A funeral service to honor Chris’s life will be held at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel in Garden City, Georgia, on Tuesday, January 21st, 2025, at 11:30 am. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service.
