Danny Edwin Thornton

May 31, 1950 - September 15, 2024

Danny Boy passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024. He was 74 years old.

A native of Savannah, Georgia, he was the son of the late D. S. Thornton and Margie Shuman-Thornton.

Danny preferred to be called "Danny Boy". His sister described him as the perfect brother. Danny was a caring and thoughtful brother. Danny was thankful for everything in his life. He was someone who liked to have fun and cut up. Danny had a unique gift for connecting with people and loved to make them laugh. His presence was a source of joy and comfort to those around him.

He worked for CSX Railroad for many years.

Danny cherished his downtime outside of work. He enjoyed relaxing "with a cold one", and just taking it easy, finding peace in the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was spending time with loved ones or enjoying a quiet moment alone, Danny Boy knew how to savor the little things that made life special to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his sister, Marcia Herrington; brother in love, Dale Herrington; son, Austin Thornton; granddaughter, Abigail Sawyer; grandson, A.J. Thornton and nephew, Ryan Herrington.
